Engagement Ring Care

It is important to care for your engagement ring, not only to keep it looking at its best but also to ensure you don’t cause any damage which may result in repair works. For your convenience we have compiled some jewellery care advice for you.

Storing Your Jewellery

Should the need ever arise when you need to take off your engagement ring then we recommend that you place it in the ring box that was originally provided. If you are using a ring or jewellery box that contains multiple items of jewellery then we recommend that you ensure that all diamond jewellery is wrapped up or stored in a separate compartment. This is because diamonds are very hard and may cause other jewellery to be scratched.

Jewellery Cleaning

To keep your jewellery shining and looking at its best it will need to be occasionally cleaned. Cleaning jewellery usually consists of carefully removing layers of dirt without inflicting any damage to the metal or stones.

Cleaning jewellery is often thought to be achieved by soaking jewellery in an alcohol such as gin, and other methods include placing it inside dishwasher and turning on. These unconventional methods may to some degree clean jewellery, but they are subject to high risk.

To properly clean your jewellery we recommend that you take your jewellery to a jeweller who will place it into an ultrasonic cleaner with a special cleaning fluid. You can also purchase dedicated jewellery cleaners which usually consist of a spray and a cloth.

For day to day maintenance of your jewellery try gently rubbing it with a soft microfiber cloth, the same cloth used for polishing a car.

Protecting Your Jewellery

Jewellery should always be removed before bathing, showering, swimming or cleaning otherwise it may become tarnished and dull. It is advisable to remove jewellery prior to any gardening, DIY or other strenuous activities because vibrations and unforgiving materials can cause damage and may lead to stone damage or loss.
